As someone who researches educational “best practices,” I try to practice what I preach. My courses are not passive lectures, but a series of active engagements with the curricula at hand. No matter what I’m teaching, I aim to make it relevant to students. I want them to be able to recognize the role that geography plays in their everyday lives and how it does matter to everyone…not just geography majors.
I was lucky enough to be named a Central Michigan University TEAL Fellow in 2017 where I had the opportunity to work with faculty from across campus to refine and improve our active learning practices.
